Traveling? Bring a charger to the airport

The public USB stations in airports are meant for charging your devices, but there are mixed opinions about whether these could be hacked.

The idea is that a bad actor can tamper with the USB charging ports, according to TSA. When you plug your device into a hijacked port, the bad guy can put malware on your phone, potentially stealing your identity.

However, travel expert Gary Leff says this 'juice jacking' is mostly an urban legend, with no well-documented cases. It's possible, just not probable.

If this worries you, bring your own charger and plug directly into a standard outlet. You could also carry a power bank backup battery.
