People who consume one or more servings of ultra-processed foods (which use artificial flavors or colors, thickeners, and other additives) are at increased risk for dozens of health conditions, according to CNN. Researchers at Australia's Deakin University conducted 45 meta-analyses with data from more than 10 million study participants and found that more than 70 percent of the time, people with adverse health conditions like heart disease, obesity, and diabetes had higher intakes of ultra-processed foods.
