Stanford trials new treatment for incurable vision loss

Vision loss from age-related macular degeneration is generally considered incurable, but a high-tech prosthetic may challenge that assumption. According to Stanford Medicine, 27 out of 32 patients in a clinical trial for the experimental PRIMA device regained the ability to read within a year. The device includes a tiny implanted wireless chip and a connected pair of glasses, which enable the user to increase contrast and zoom in to discern shapes and patterns.
