Norovirus infection rates have surged in parts of the U.S. this season and more outbreaks are reported each week. According to Fortune, the most recent data shows that weekly positivity rates of the "winter vomiting disease" have increased by 340 percent this season, and have significantly outpaced rates from the past several years. The virus is the leading cause of vomiting, diarrhea, and foodborne illness in the country.
