The global consulting firm McKinsey & Company will pay $650 million to settle a Justice Department investigation into its work with OxyContin maker Purdue Pharma.
According to the New York Times, McKinsey advised Purdue Pharma to "turbocharge" OxyContin sales during the opioid epidemic and was paid $93 million for its services. McKinsey's recommendations included targeting "opioid naive" patients who had little or no experience taking the drug.
