The American Heart Association (AHA) says that doctors should start screening and treating patients for high cholesterol earlier. According to NBC News, the AHA and other medical groups are urging physicians to use the new PREVENT calculation tool to predict 10-year risk for people aged 30 to 59. The guidelines emphasize the importance of early intervention to control elevated LDL ("bad") cholesterol and reduce long-term health risks.
