The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has proposed a new rule that would require all facilities to meet new minimum staffing standards, according to the New York Times. About three-quarters of the nation's 15,000 nursing homes would need to add more staff to meet the minimums, which experts say are still inadequate to meet the needs of nursing home residents. Nursing home industry leaders say that facilities will require extra money from Medicare or Medicaid to meet the standards.
