Maybe the kids have a good idea here?

"You just got rekt by a pensioner, boy."

Translation: An old guy beat the stuffing out of some kid in a video game.

And, that's who video games are for, kids, right? Not so fast.

It seems seniors get a lot of benefit from video games, even social interaction on some types of games, and a lot of satisfaction.

Researchers found this to be true in a 2013 study of 140 seniors who found themselves in better moods after playing video games. Seniors who used Nintendo Switch Sports (in which you actually use your body to play games on video) found they improved balance and coordination.

If you are looking for a little video game fun, you have quite a few different directions to explore. There are all sorts from multi-player role playing, strategy, racing, survival, sports, and more casual games.

The easy way to get started is with your smartphone. You'll find puzzle games and break-the-bubble games that are easy to understand and fun to play.

If you want to break into serious gaming, it's a good excuse to call a grandkid. Or, consider the device you want to play on. A computer can be a good platform for gaming. Tablets, like an iPad, have some action and shooter games. More expensive consoles like Xbox are made for both serious gamers and beginners. They require some experience to learn the controls.

If you feel that gaming might be for you, start by searching for types of video games. You'll find lots of different themes and even complete worlds to explore.
