FDA considers drug to extend dogs’ lives

The drug LOY-001, which could extend the lifespan of larger dogs, cleared its first major regulatory hurdle after the FDA found a "reasonable expectation of effectiveness," according to Axios. The San Francisco-based biotech company Loyal for Dogs aims to add at least a year to the lifespans of larger dogs with the long-acting drug, administered every three to six months. Larger dogs typically live between eight and 12 years, while smaller breeds often live much longer.
