Global Pharma Healthcare Private Limited has recalled artificial tears and an eye ointment that government agencies say are contaminated with a rare antibiotic-resistant microbe called Pseudomonas aeruginosa, according to to Scientific American. So far, 68 infections have been reported. Three people have died, eight experienced vision loss, and four required surgical removal of an eye. The recalled products are EzriCare Artificial Tears, Delsam Pharma's Artifical Tears, and Delsam Pharma's Artificial Eye Ointment.
