Choosing a seat

If you haven't flown for a while, before you book your trip, remember that there is a big difference in airplane seat comfort in the economy section.

For many multi-hour trips on any airline, you might be flying in a 737, which can have two types of economy seats. The regular economy seats do not comfortably accommodate a tall or heavy person. If you are over 5 feet 9 inches, try to book an economy plus or economy premium seat. The upgrade can cost as little as $35, but there is a dramatic difference in comfort. The larger premium economy seats have more leg room, so a taller person will not spend the trip with their knees jammed up against the seat in front. A heavier person will have room to lower the tray table.
