Mention childhood and you think of little people who are cared for. Mention adulthood and you think of bigger people that are doing the care.
What about the years past 65 and older? What is the 'hood' for seniors?
University of California professor Guy Micco says those ages are years of wisdom and experience. Years of knowledge and power.
He says they are 'elderhood.'
Of course there is widespread disagreement about when you become an elder. The average 60-year-old thinks that is at 80. The average 80-year-old thinks that is 90. And so it goes.
But one thing is for sure: Most seniors think they have been seen some things and learned some things, so there must be a need for a wise elder.
