Organ donations related to motor vehicle crashes increase during major motorcycle rallies, according to the New York Times. In a study published in JAMA Internal Medicine, researchers noted that during major rallies, the number of organ donors in the same regions rose by 21 percent on average compared to periods with no rallies. The study's authors believe that congested roads and fatigued riders contribute to the temporary spikes in fatalities, and urge policymakers to consider more ways to reduce traffic-related deaths.
