Synthetic magic mushrooms relieve depression

Psilocybin, a hallucinogenic compound found in magic mushrooms, can quickly relieve treatment-resistant depression with just one dose, according to a new study published in the New England Journal of Medicine. Researchers treated 233 study participants with synthetic psilocybin and found that a single 25-milligram dose resulted in significant and rapid improvement of symptoms. The effects lasted about three months before waning.

Follow-up trials are needed to compare the effectiveness of synthetic psilocybin with existing depression treatments, according to CNN.
