The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) reports that privacy-related (HIPPA) complaints and large data breaches increased significantly between 2017 and 2021, according to Healthcare Dive. In its report, HHS explained that lack of funding hampered enforcement capabilities. The report comes after earlier warnings from the agency about Russian hackers targeting hospitals and medical groups in multiple countries.
