Some wag in Bend, Oregon, is focused on eyes, googly eyes to be exact, and he or she (or a group?) is sticking them on public sculptures.
Bend is a perfect destination for random googly eyes. It has an Art Route path in which 27 sculptures are placed in traffic circles. At least three of the sculptures have been eyed: A large orb, a horse, and a deer family.
The city claims it has spent $1,500 removing the eyes.
Some of the 100,000 Bend citizens are reportedly not unhappy with googly eyes. There is a history of decorating sculptures with hats, wreaths and leis. But in terms of publicity, the eyes have it as the prank has gone viral.
