At 10 Downing Street, British prime ministers come and go. Larry the Cat just stays.
On February 15, Britain's official Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office marked 15 years in residence, surviving Cameron, May, Johnson, Truss, Sunak, and now Starmer. No other occupant of Number 10 can claim that kind of tenure.
Adopted in 2011 from Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, Larry was brought in to deal with a mouse problem. He handles that with what observers charitably call "selective enthusiasm." His real talent, it turns out, is public relations. Recent polls show Larry's favorability rating exceeds that of any prime minister he has served under, all six of them.
His most memorable moment may have been napping, unimpressed, beneath President Trump's armored limousine during a state visit.
Fifteen years. Six bosses. Zero retirement plans.
