Trying to save money? Cut this

One simple way to give yourself more wiggle room in your budget or more padding in your savings account: Stop eating out.

Americans spend an average of $3,000 a year dining out, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. If you are spending just $10 a day Monday through Friday eating lunch out, that adds up to $50 a week or $2,500 a year, according to Money Under 30.

The $15 meal you get in a diner would cost, on average, $5 at home.

If you spend $2 Monday through Friday on fancy coffee, make it at home for a savings of $40 per month.
