The pharmaceutical companies Biogen and Eisai are developing a new drug to slow the rate of cognitive decline among patients with Alzheimer's disease, according to the New York Times. The drug, called lecanemab, reduced cognitive decline by 27 percent in a recent clinical trial. Previously, Biogen released the controversial drug Aduhelm, widely considered a commercial failure after Medicare restricted its coverage.
