Home renovation videos on TikTok might be hugely satisfying to watch, but the demolition phase can expose more than just original wood floors. Asbestos.com analyzed more than 280 videos and found that 1 in 8 of them revealed flooring and adhesives that potentially contained asbestos. In homes built before 1980, asbestos is often hidden in floor tiles, sheet vinyl flooring, black mastic adhesive, popcorn ceilings, or any crumbling materials. If your home contains any of these, hire a certified testing company that does not provide remediation services to determine whether asbestos is present and provide additional recommendations.
