Prepare your home and family for tornado season, which runs during the spring and summer for large parts of the U.S. Some simple home maintenance can help protect your home from storm damage. Trim trees to minimize broken limbs, know how to turn off your utilities, make sure your gutters and downspouts are secure, and check your roof for loose shingles. If a storm damages your home, take plenty of photos before cleanup — they might be helpful if you file a homeowners insurance claim.
