If you are fond of felines, cat sitting can be a satisfying way to earn a few dollars.
For the most part, cat sitters go to the homes of vacationing cat owners to check in on the animals one or two times a day. It is possible to get a house/cat sitting job that involves actually staying in a house, picking up the mail, and feeding the cat.
Most of the time, owners and cats won't want you to take the cat away from its home.
If you go into cat sitting for the extra money, and not as a full-time job, you can pick and choose the jobs you want.
Advertise on Facebook and accept jobs from people you know or people in your area.
It's a good idea to get bonded and insured if you will be going to someone's home.
If you don't know your clients, you will have to visit, introduce yourself to people and felines, and generally get to know them.
Once hired for the job, get emergency numbers and permission to take the animal to the vet, if needed.
You'll need a key to the house to enter when the owners are away. Be sure to try the key before you accept the job. You need to make sure it is the right one and that you can make it work.
Leave a diary of your visits to the home and notes about your adventures. Text messages with pictures also work.
Expect the kitty parents to check in once in a while.
