In December 2025, xAI announced a landmark partnership with the Government of El Salvador, led by President Nayib Bukele, to launch the world's first nationwide AI-powered education program. This initiative deploys Grok — xAI's advanced AI chatbot — as a personalized tutor across El Salvador's public school system.
Over the next two years, Grok will roll out to more than 5,000 public schools, reaching over 1 million students (from kindergarten through high school) and supporting thousands of teachers.
How It Works
Grok provides adaptive, curriculum-aligned tutoring that adjusts in real-time to each student's pace, learning style, preferences, and mastery level. It acts as a digital assistant for core subjects, offering step-by-step reasoning and truth-seeking responses. Teachers gain tools for lesson planning, grading, and creating differentiated assignments. The system uses a hybrid model (on-device for quick interactions, cloud-backed for complex queries) and emphasizes safety, local cultural context, and human oversight.
