Uber, Lyft drivers will soon get a Hertz
Ride-sharing companies like Uber and Lyft have been hurting rental companies.
But Hertz Global Holdings has reached an agreement with the companies to rent their out-of-fleet cars to Uber and Lyft drivers.
Hertz rotates cars out of the fleet frequently. Those cars have been sold in the past, but this new rental agreement could add a new profit stream to the rental business.
Brexit and travel
Travelers have surely noticed the lowest exchange rate of the dollar to sterling in the last 30 years.
The dollar is strong thanks to the British exit from the European Union. That makes travel from the U.S. to Britain a special value now.
According to Fortune, US and Chinese online travel sites have seen a 30 to 45 percent jump in interest in travel to the UK.
But other issues could also be affected by the new arrangement over the pond.
– Roaming charges. Be on the lookout for increased mobile roaming charges.
– No-frills flights within Europe could increase.
Brits might have to cope with more passport restrictions on travel within Europe, something that the open border policy of the EU ended.
PreCheck troubles
TSA PreCheck trusted travelers might not get fast screening because of clerical errors in reservations, according to Skift.
The most common problem: Date of birth or known traveler number is entered incorrectly on a reservation.
Other problems include itinerary name versus PreCheck name.
Go to www.dhs.gov/tt, and log in. Verify your traveler number, name, date of birth and gender. If that is all correct, then verify with the airline that it has all the information correct.
