Stay awake during takeoff and landing

The tedious airplane boarding process may seem like the perfect opportunity to get some shut-eye, but it's not the best time.

During takeoff and landing, the familiar-feeling pressure in your ear starts to build. Yawning and swallowing can equalize the pressure — but you need to be awake.

Take-off and landing are also the parts of the flight when accidents are most likely. You might want to be aware of your surroundings — and listen to the flight attendant.
