About 30 percent of Americans say they have had a package stolen from their doorstep, according to USA Today. Companies like Ring are providing camera-equipped security lights and doorbells that connect to Wi-Fi, allowing users to view video and talk to visitors through their smartphones. A recent study from the Los Angeles Police Department showed these doorbells help to reduce burglaries by as much as 50 percent, spooking would-be criminals who realize they are being monitored.
