In a new study, just 13 percent of people who took an opioid experienced relief of low back pain.
The study was reported at the American Anesthesiologists Annual Meeting.
The study involved 2,030 people with low back pain. Half took opioid drugs but only 13 percent actually had pain relief.
Meanwhile 75 percent of the opioid takers experienced all the side effects: Constipation, sleepiness, cognitive issues, and dependence.
