A study by the Thrombosis Research Institute in London shows that taking a one-minute cold shower can help to ward off illnesses.
The researchers found that the cold water stimulates immune cell production. Their theory is that the body tries to warm itself during and after a cold shower, which speeds up the metabolic rate, activating the immune system.
Their work was also reported in Bottom Line Personal.
