Children in Ivory Coast were the first recipients of R21, a new malaria vaccine that costs less than $4 per dose, according to CNN. R21 and another new malaria vaccine, RTS-S, are expected to prevent as many as 500,000 malaria-related child deaths each year. More than 25 million doses have already been manufactured.
