Bargain vase is the find of a lifetime

Jessica Vincent had always enjoyed thrifting and knew a good find when she saw one. But even she was surprised when her eagle eye turned a $3.99 vase into a six-figure windfall.

The bottle-shaped vase's swirling red and seafoam green pattern immediately stood out to Vincent when she spotted it at her local Goodwill store, and she knew it was special as soon as she picked it up. She brought the vase home that day and posted it in a Facebook group for glassware collectors, hoping for more information about the markings on the base.

The vase was special, all right — one of just a handful like it from Venini, the celebrated Italian glassworks company. The auction house Wright valued it at $30-50,000, but a buyer snapped it up for $107,000. Six figures richer, Vincent immediately went thrifting again after the auction ended.
