Three brothers from San Francisco decided to clean out the attic in a house belonging to their late mother. What they found was astounding.
The men, whose prefer to remain anonymous, knew their mother claimed to have rare comics. She couldn't remember where she put those comics. So the brothers assumed it was just a story, a good family story to be sure.
But when they started throwing things into the dumpster, they did pause when they found a simple box full of newspaper clipping and somewhere in there, in very good condition, were comic books.
One was Superman No. 1 from 1939. It was not only in tact, but actually pristine, according to Hollywood Reporter.
In October 2025, the comic book that their mother bought for 10 cents sold for $9.12 million, the highest price ever fetched for a comic book.
