The US Postal Service has introduced its new forever stamp, and it costs 73 cents — a five cent increase over January 2024's stamp.
Part of the increase is because first class mail — bill payments, cards, and letters — has been declining since the advent of email and texting.
In July 2007, the USPS handled 2.7 billion pieces of first class mail. By June 2023, that number had plummeted 68 percent to a comparatively measly 900 million.
