The U.S. government drastically understated the number of people killed in high-speed police car chases, possibly by thousands of fatalities over several decades, a new investigation shows.
In 2013, the National Highway Traffic Administration's count of 322 chase-related deaths understates the total by at least 31 percent, an investigation of police reports, court records and police car videos shows.
