Squeezed in between the football game and bedtime, a little Sunday planning could go a long way to making the week go smoother.
Here are four easy ways to save time and frustration in the week to come:
1 Get your clothes ready.
There's no better way to get the week started off right. If you know what you are going to wear every day, that's a morning decision you get to skip.
Don't forget to check the forecast for a general idea of what you need to wear. Then, consider your schedule for the appropriate outfits.
No more searching for socks. Get them ready on Sunday and hide them from the less-organized sockless people in your household.
2 Plan your meals.
You might prefer to do this on Saturday, or anytime before you shop. Planning your meals for home and work gives you a triple payout: You save money at the grocery store and at lunch, plus you save time every evening of the week.
If, on Sunday, you make a one-pot dinner (vegetable soup, stew, a noodle dish, or pot roast, you can easily make enough for two extra evening meals or lunches. Put leftovers in single serving containers to grab for lunch or to nuke in the evening.
Take your meal list to the store with you in case you get a brain storm about something to substitute. That way you won't overbuy.
3 Completely clean the kitchen.
Get all the dishes done, even the stragglers, and empty the dishwasher before bed.
If you feel extra energetic, get the coffee ready to turn on in the morning.
4 Gas up and dejunk.
Get the car ready to roll. No delays on Monday. No debris from the week. Smooth sailing all the way.
