One joyous Easter tradition

One joyous Easter tradition

Poland is one of the West's most unapologetic Christian countries with a history rooted in Roman Catholicism.

One ancient custom for Easter used to be practiced on the streets in every day life, but today may more frequently be found within families: The Easter Greeting.

In ancient times, people would meet each other on the street and one person would say, "Chrystus Zmartwychwsta" (Christ is risen) and the person being greeted would respond "Prawdziwie zmartwychwsta!" (Truly He is risen).

Today you find the tradition practiced in families, with parents joyfully announcing to children, "Christ is Risen" and the children responding loudly, "Truly He is risen!"
