Life of military spouse can be uncertain

To be a military spouse requires learning a whole new lingo, observing military protocol — and taking care of everything while the uniformed spouse is deployed.

It has been said that a spouse goes to war just as the uniformed partner.

Before deployment, there are unpredictable schedules that can disrupt home life. There is fear that the soldier spouse will be injured or killed. And, the normal anxiety that separation for months will harm their marriage, according to military.com.

The spouse at home worries when communication is limited, but often finds that even brief talks help in the short term. Unless there are bombs in the background. That can be bad.

In the end, the reunions are joyous for the whole military family.

For holding together hearth and home, military spouses are honored on May 10, Military Spouse Appreciation Day.
