Great religious sites to visit in the US

Here are some less well-known religious sites that deserve a look on your cultural tours.

Islamic: Noor Islamic Cultural Center, Columbus, Oh. Built in 2006, this is not the largest mosque in the U.S., but probably the most picturesque.

Buddhist: Watt Munisotaram, Cambodian Buddhist, Hampton, Minn. 40-acre campus conpleted in 2007. Lavish indoor and outdoor temples and shrines.

Catholic: Cathedral Of Saint John The Baptist, Savannah, Ga. Rebuilt after 1898, features striking stained glass and pipe organ music.

Russian Orthodox: Saint Theodosius Orthodox Cathedral, Cleveland, Oh. Stunning example of Russian sacred architecture. You saw a glimpse of it in the movie Deer Hunter.

Jewish: Congregation Mickve Israel, Savannah, Ga. First dedicated in 1773. It was named one of the top 15 most beautiful synagogues in the world, with deep ties to American history.
