If your child is born between 2025 and 2028, The government will put $1,000 in a retirement account for the child.
You have to enroll your child in the program. About 25 million households are eligible. By early 2026, one million accounts were opened.
Over a child's lifetime, the $1,000 seed money could grow to tens of thousands of dollars, more when money is regularly added. The accounts can significantly enhance the retirement income for those who participate.
The program begins July 5.
