June and July are an extended hell week for dogs as fireworks terrorize some animals.
Pets may run away, cower, shake, drool, howl, or even destroy things from anxiety.
Here's what you can do:
Show no fear or anxiety yourself. Younger dogs might learn confidence when they see you have no fear.
Keep dogs inside. They might be more confident in a crate, especially if they usually sleep in one.
Make the room as quiet as possible, although some soft music might help.
Walk the pet early in the day, before evening fireworks start.
Provide toys, especially puzzle toys like a Kong toy with treats inside it.
