The leading risk factor for death within five years of a coronary artery diagnosis is depression.
This conclusion was part of a study published in the August 2017 issue of European Heart Journal Quality of Care and Outcomes.
Researchers found that, in patients with significant coronary artery disease, depressed patients have double the risk of death compared to patients who were not depressed.
